Community Partnerships

Bristol County Savings Bank also recognizes that sometimes it takes a collaborative effort to effect change and achieve the greatest results. The Bank partners with many community organizations, schools and government agencies in an effort to implement positive changes within our communities.

Here are just a few examples:

Hopewell Elementary School, Taunton, MA

Involvement:

Bristol County Savings Bank is the Community Business Partner for Hopewell School. These efforts add to the success at Hopewell as they are not only among Taunton’s leaders for MCAS scores, they have also been awarded the prestigious National Blue Ribbon School Accreditation Award as a nationally recognized school of excellence! To try and put this in perspective, only 314 schools out of 120,000 elementary, middle and high schools in the entire country received this award. Of those 314, Hopewell was one of the only 80 schools who met both criteria required to qualify for the award and was one of three elementary schools in Massachusets chosen to recieve the award.

The Bank was also recognized at the event for its outstanding commitment as Hopewell’s corporate partner and our role in helping them achieve their status as a School of Excellence. The event culminated with the Bank presenting Hopewell with a check for $17,500 to help support and expand existing programs such as the Literacy Closet, Chess Club and Saturday Art and Spanish programs.

This is a perfect example of how successful community partnerships can benefit the entire community. In the end , it’s great that the Bank gets recognition and it’s also great that Hopewell is honored, but it’s really about the impact that it has on the kids and how the lessons they are learning and experiencing now, will help them, and in turn our community, in the future.

Some of the other projects and programs we have sponsored include:

Project B.E.S.T. (Building Educational Success Together)

Nature & Me – a week long camping experience for fourth graders who may not have the opportunity to participate in these types of outdoor activities.

Annual Food Drive – with the proceeds donated to St. Vincent de Paul Society in Taunton and benefiting families in need in this area. This year over 1500 non-perishable food items were collected by the students at Hopewell.

Literacy Closet – As the relationship developed and grew, so did the Bank’s support with the funding of the school’s Literacy Closet. The Literacy Closet is an area that houses a large collection of books that is available to students at all grade levels.

Chess Club – Another major initiative that Hopewell has been able to accomplish with the Bank’s support has been developing a Chess Club. The Chess Club has been in place for three years with the leadership of Grand Master Mike Clark. In just three short years, membership to the club has more than doubled.
