Bristol County Savings Bank Awards $50,000 Grant to Help Build a Replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall at Veteran’s Memorial Bicentennial Park in Fall River

TAUNTON, MA, December 9, 2019 — Bristol County Savings Bank, headquartered in Taunton, Massachusetts, announces that as a Platinum Sponsor it has presented a grant for $50,000 to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall Committee, Inc. to help build a replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Veteran’s Memorial Bicentennial Park at 1082 Davol Street in Fall River, Massachusetts. The 360’ long by eight’ high permanent replica of the wall that is visited by millions of people each year in Washington, DC will create a platform to forever remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice and educate future generations about the nature of the conflict, those who fought in the war and its lasting impact on our country.

“The replica will tie in nicely with the renewed emphasis on civic engagement in the classroom. We expect schools from around the region to take class trips to visit the monument for a more hands-on learning experience,” said Joe, Marshall, President of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall Committee. “We appreciate Bristol County Savings Bank’s support in making this dream a reality for Fall River.” Marshall added that the memorial wall will also be an economic driver for the City as it will be exclusive to Massachusetts, as well as a 50-mile radius around Fall River which will encompass most of Rhode Island.

“While honoring our fallen heroes is what immediately drew us to this project, education and economic development are two of our areas of emphasis when investing in the communities we serve. So, it made sense to get involved for a number of different reasons,” said Patrick Murray, President & CEO at Bristol County Savings Bank.

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall Committee is a 501 (c)(3) organization devoted to promoting and developing patriotism and civic pride, remembering those Americans who fought and died for their country in the Vietnam War, and educating the public about the conflict.
