Bristol County Savings Bank Supports Pawtucket’s Books Are Wings Gift of Literacy Campaign

TAUNTON, MA, November 7, 2019 — Bristol County Savings Bank (BCSB), headquartered in Taunton, Massachusetts, awarded a $1,000 grant to the Books Are Wings (BAW) Gift of Literacy Campaign earlier this week at the non-profit’s 1005 Main Street, Pawtucket office.  Furthering its long-standing commitment to education, the Bank also held an employee book drive during October in celebration of national Literacy Month, presenting the donated books to BAW along with the donation.

Books Are Wings’ annual Gift of Literacy Campaign provides funding for the organization’s core mission of putting free books in the hands of children throughout Rhode Island so to make a positive difference in their lives and future.  Last year, the campaign enabled the organization to put thousands of books into the homes of kids of all ages, as well as into schools and community centers.  BAW also provides programming to support local communities’ literacy needs throughout the year.

“We place a premium on being actively involved in the communities we serve and have a particular interest in supporting local education and literacy programs,” said Patrick J. Murray, Jr., President and CEO of the Bank. “That’s why the mission of Books Are Wings resonates with us.  We believe that every child should experience the joy of reading and we’re keenly aware that having plenty of age appropriate books in the home make a positive impact on children’s success at school.”
