Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation awards $271,313 in grants to 40 non-profit organizations.TAUNTON, MA, July 26, 2018 — Bristol County Savings Bank (BCSB), through its charitable foundation, awarded grants totaling $271,313 to 40 non-profit organizations in the Taunton-Attleboro, Southcoast and Rhode Island areas during a ceremony which took place today at the Holiday Inn Taunton, 700 Myles Standish Boulevard in Taunton, Massachusetts.

The organizations that received grants from the Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation (BCSCF) are as follows:

Taunton-Attleboro area, $84,195 – Associates for Human Services, Associates for Human Services – TASC, Attleboro Area School to Career, Boys & Girls Club of Taunton, Inc., Franklin Food Pantry Incorporated, Junior Achievement of Southern Massachusetts, Katie Brown Educational Program, Inc., New Hope, Inc., Newman YMCA, Old Colony Historical Society and Taunton Area Community Table, Inc.;

Southcoast area, $122,200 – AHA!, Argosy Collegiate Charter School, Boys & Girls Club of Greater New Bedford, Holy Name School, Inter-Church Council of Greater New Bedford, Inc., Children’s Advocacy Center of Bristol County, Kennedy Donovan Center, Inc., Lloyd Center for the Environment, Nativity Preparatory School New Bedford, New Bedford Festival Theater, New Bedford Fishing Heritage Center, Inc., New Bedford Star Kids Scholarship Program, New Bedford Symphony Orchestra, New Bedford Whaling Museum, Our Sisters’ School, Inc., The Schwartz Center, Southcoast Mentoring Initiative For Learning Education and Service, Inc., uAspire and YMCA of Southeastern Massachusetts; and

Rhode Island area $64,918 – Books Are Wings, Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket, Camp Ruggles, Inc., The Capital Good Fund, College Crusade of Rhode Island, The Empowerment Factory, Girls on the Run Rhode Island, Rhode Island Nurses Institute Middle College Charter High School, Woodlawn Catholic Regional School and Young Voices.

Patrick J. Murray, Jr., President of the BCSCF and President & CEO of BCSB, awarded the grants to the organizations.  Also participating were Thomas Hoye, Mayor, City of Taunton; Paul Heroux, Mayor, City of Attleboro; and representatives from the mayor of New Bedford’s office, the BCSCF advisory boards and the Bank’s area branches.

“In keeping with the Bank’s mission of supporting our local neighborhoods to meet the growing needs of the population, our Foundation is proud to grant more than a quarter of a million dollars to these 40 non-profit organizations doing good work in the communities we serve,” said Patrick J. Murray, President & CEO of BCSB and President of BCSCF.

Bristol County Savings Bank is an active supporter in the communities in which it serves. The Foundation was established in 1996 as part of the Bank’s 150th Anniversary celebration.  Its purpose is to fund needs that contribute to the economic and the social well-being of the people and institutions located in the greater Taunton/Attleboro Region, the greater New Bedford/Dartmouth Region, the Fall River Region and the Pawtucket, Rhode Island Region, with particular emphasis in the areas of education and literacy, economic development and housing for the low- to moderate-income population.  Since the Foundation began, more than $19 million has been committed to hundreds of different non-profit organizations.  In 2017, the Foundation awarded $1.8 million to various 501(c)(3) organizations.
