TAUNTON, MA, June 1, 2016 — Practicum students from Bristol County Savings Bank’s branch office at Taunton High School recently received Awards of Excellence by the Taunton Public School Committee for their achievements at the Massachusetts School Banks Association (MSBA) Spring Conference held at the Federal Reserve Bank in Boston, Massachusetts. The Conference and this year’s “Banking & Credit Basics” theme served to both educate students and challenge them on their knowledge of financial literacy.

Competing against more than 270 students from 23 other school banks, the BCSB@THS marketing team of Sergio Bento, Alexandra Sherman, Amy Santos, Gabrielle Camara and Isabelle Oppenheim took second place at the Conference with their Big Kid Bucks program designed to educate elementary students on the importance of learning to save money at an early age so that they can enjoy a more secure financial future. In addition, BCSB@THS students Femi Olaye and Mateo Delgado submitted winning essays on “The importance of finance in your future endeavors: What can you do to better prepare yourself for a strong financial future” and received monetary awards to go towards their respective college educations for their efforts.

“The MSBA Conference is a highly rewarding and educational event that challenges today’s high school students to bring their financial ‘A’ game,” said Tracy Lynskey, Bristol County Savings Bank, Taunton High School Branch Supervisor. “Our banking students were well prepared thanks in large part to the financial knowledge gained through the BCSB@THS internship program.”
