Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation Awards $353,600 in Grants to 44 Area Non-Profits Today

TAUNTON, MA, December 19, 2019 — Bristol County Savings Bank (BCSB), through its charitable foundation, awarded grants totaling $353,600 to 44 non-profit organizations in the Taunton-Attleboro, New Bedford-Fall River and Rhode Island areas during a ceremony which took place today at the Holiday Inn Taunton in Taunton, Massachusetts. Since the Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation (BCSCF) was formed in 1996, more than $22 million has been committed to hundreds of different non-profit organizations. In 2019, the Foundation has awarded close to $2 million to various 501(c)(3) organizations.

The organizations that received grants from the Foundation are as follows:

Taunton-Attleboro area, $140,000 – ARC of Bristol County ($12,000); Attleboro Area Interfaith Collaborative ($10,000); Boys & Girls Club of Metro South ($10,000); Coaching4Change ($15,000); Community Visiting Nurse Agency, Inc. ($6,000); Girls Incorporated of Taunton ($7,500); Greater Taunton Community Services Center, Inc. ($10,000); Hockomock YMCA ($12,000); Horizons for Homeless Children ($2,500); New Hope ($20,000); Pro-Home, Inc. ($20,000); Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra & Music School ($7,500); Society of St. Vincent de Paul – Attleboro District ($5,000); and Society of St. Vincent de Paul – Taunton District ($2,500).

New Bedford-Fall River area, $128,500 –Atlantis Charter School ($10,000); Bristol Community College Foundation ($3,000); Child & Family Services ($4,000); Coaching4Change ($10,000); Community Connections, Inc. ($5,000); Entrepreneurship for All, Inc. ($5,000); Fall River Boys & Girls Club ($10,000); Kennedy Donovan Center ($20,000); New Bedford Art Museum ($10,000); New Bedford Fishing Heritage Center ($5,000); New Bedford Historical Society ($10,000); Preservation Society of Fall River, Inc. ($6,500); Southeastern MA Ser-Jobs for Progress, Inc. ($7,500); Steppingstone Inc. ($5,000); Waterfront Historic Area League of New Bedford, Inc. ($10,000); and Yeah Corps ($7,500).

Rhode Island area $85,100 – Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England ($2,000); HopeHealth ($5,000); Local Area Initiatives Support Corporation ($15,000); Old Slater Mill Association ($5,000); Pawtucket Central Falls Development Corp. ($15,000); Providence Children’s Museum ($4,000); Reach Out and Read Rhode Island ($4,000); RI Nurses Institute Middle College Charter High School ($5,000); St. Cecilia’s School ($2,500); Shri Service Corps. ($2,500); Sojourner House, Inc. ($3,500); The Learning Community Charter School ($4,000); The Arc of Blackstone Valley ($2,600); The Providence Center ($5,000); and the YMCA of Pawtucket ($10,000).

Patrick J. Murray, Jr., President of the BCSCF and President & CEO of BCSB, awarded the grants to the organizations. Also participating were: Don Cleary, Interim Mayor, City of Taunton; Kristine Cunningham, Assistant Chief of Staff for Jon Mitchell, Mayor, City of New Bedford; and representatives of the BCSCF advisory boards and the Bank’s area branches.

“Our mission is to support the communities we serve by making them a better place to live and work,” said Murray. “Though our investments in charitable organizations like the 44 we are assisting today, combined with our community partnerships and volunteer activities, we do our best to fulfill that purpose.”

The Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation was established in 1996 as part of the Bank’s 150th Anniversary celebration. Its intent is to fund the needs that contribute to the economic and the social well-being of the people and institutions located in the greater Taunton/Attleboro Region, the greater New Bedford/Dartmouth Region, the Fall River Region and the Pawtucket, Rhode Island Region, with particular emphasis in the areas of education and literacy, economic development and housing for the low- to moderate-income population.
