Great American Solar Eclipse 2024

April 7-10, 2024

A total solar eclipse is truly a once in a lifetime experience! This natural phenomenon occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth, completely blocking the face of the Sun.

On April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will cross North America, passing over Mexico, the United States and Canada. Experts say most of the U.S. will not experience this event again until 2045! Join PRIME TIME™ as we travel to Rochester, NY to experience the solar eclipse directly in the path of totality.

A total eclipse is one of the rarest and most spectacular events in nature. During the partial phases, the landscape is transformed by eerie dim light and strangely sharp shadows. During totality, the sky becomes as dark as deep twilight. Animals fall silent, people weep and flames of nuclear fire visibly erupt like geysers from the sun’s edge. The experience is emotionally powerful and unforgettable. When it’s over, observers immediately begin planning their "pilgrimage" to see the next one.
Day 1:
Today, we begin with an early morning departure to Rochester, New York – named by Fodor’s and Thrillist as one of the best cities to watch the 2024 eclipse. Enroute, we’ll make a stop for lunch at the Rustic Loft Pub & Grill. The next 3 evenings will be spent at the beautiful Woodcliff Hotel and Spa, just outside of Rochester, NY. Tonight’s dinner is at the hotel. (L,D)

Day 2: Get ready to ROC the Eclipse! After a full breakfast at the hotel, we’ll head over to the Rochester Museum and Science Center (RMSC) for an exciting day filled with events surrounding the eclipse. There will be exhibitors, planetarium shows, hands-on activities, speakers and food trucks! At 2:07 pm, the eclipse will begin. For the next 73 minutes, we will watch the Moon cover more and more of the Sun with our complimentary eclipse glasses. At 3:20 pm, brace yourself for an experience like none other. For the next 3 minutes and 38 seconds, we will be in the path of totality. After totality, the Moon will gradually uncover the Sun and the eclipse will end at 4:33 pm. This evening’s dinner is at Delmonico’s Italian Steakhouse. (B,D)

Day 3: After breakfast, we make our way to Corning, also known as America’s Crystal City, in the beautiful Finger Lakes region. This morning, we’ll view “glass in a new light” at the Corning Glass Museum. More than just a museum; you’ll find art, history and science at this attraction that has something for everyone. Marvel at modern glass art, view ancient functional pieces, experience a glass blowing demonstration and create your own glass! After being “blown away” at the Glass Museum, we’ll make our way to the charming village of Watkins Glen for a brewery, winery and cidery tour - an experience that is fun, innovative and educational! This evening, enjoy dinner at a beautiful winery overlooking Seneca Lake. (B,L,D)

Day 4: Following a full breakfast at the hotel, we’ll depart for home with fond memories of New York’s Genesee Valley and the Finger Lakes region and, of course, we’ll thank our lucky stars for the opportunity to experience the solar eclipse within the path of totality! (B)
