TAUNTON, MA, June 5, 2016 — Bristol County Savings Bank (BCSB), through its charitable foundation, recently awarded a $20,000 grant to the Fall River Public Schools to support the educational programming and outreach of its Parent Academy. The Parent Academy is a city-wide collaboration between families, community agencies, businesses and schools to provide free education and creative learning opportunities for all Fall River parents and families. These shared experiences, in turn, improve children’s educational performance, promote self growth and healthy families and strengthen the community. The Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation (BCSCF) also provided $20,000 to the Fall River Public Schools – Parent Academy last year which largely went to start-up costs. Since 2007, the Foundation has donated more than $3.8 million to 501©(3) organizations in the Southcoast.

“After being on the ground floor with the Parent Academy when it launched last year, and seeing the positive impact it has already had on families and the Fall River community as a whole, we felt compelled to continue our support,” said Patrick J. Murray, Jr., President of the BCSCF and President & CEO of BCSB . “In fact, our investment in the Academy is more than a financial one as we are proud of our role in this city-wide partnership and the seminar series offered to parents on Financial Education that is taught by a team of BCSB employees.”
