Bristol County Savings Bank Commits $100,000 Grant To Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro South For New, Expanded Childcare Center

TAUNTON, MA, June 9, 2026 — Bristol County Savings Bank, through its Foundation, announces it has committed a $100,000 grant distributed over four years to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro South (BGCMS), based in Taunton, Massachusetts.  The donation will support the transformation of the recently purchased “The District” Performing Arts Center, located at 15 Court Street in downtown Taunton and adjacent to the organization’s Club Support Center and Taunton Clubhouse, into a new home for BGCMS’s licensed childcare center.  Since the Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation was formed in 1996, more than $37 million has been committed to hundreds of non-profits in the communities the Bank serves.  In 2025 alone, the Foundation awarded $2.9 million to various 501(c)(3) organizations.

After structural and cosmetic renovations, including the installation of a new HVAC climate control system and technology to support 21st-century learning, the new childcare center will provide before- and after-school programming for close to 130 youths ages 5-12, a more than 50 percent increase in children served.  In addition, the moving of the existing childcare center to “The District” building will free up much needed dedicated space at the Taunton Clubhouse for 50-75 additional pre-teen and teen members to participate in the organization’s daily after-school programs.

“Bristol County Savings Bank’s recent capital investment in the renovation of the District Child Care Center is an investment in the future of our children, families, and community.  Capital grants don’t just renovate buildings; they transform lives.  This investment will strengthen our entire community by giving kids access to opportunities, mentorship, and experiences that can change the trajectory of their lives for generations to come,” said Derek Heim, President & CEO, Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro South.  “Bristol County Savings Bank’s philanthropic leadership continues to make a lasting difference throughout our region.  Their support reflects a deep commitment to strengthening communities and standing for the communities we proudly serve."

“At Bristol County Savings Bank, putting people first means investing in the places and programs that help children and families thrive,” said John Silva, President and CEO of Bristol County Savings Bank and President of the Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation.  “Our long-standing partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro South reflects a shared belief that every child deserves a safe, supportive environment where they can learn, grow and build a strong future.  We are proud to support this expanded childcare center, which will create more opportunities for young people in Taunton and strengthen an organization that makes a meaningful difference in our community every day.”
